Worldwide, Refugee Host Nations marked the 60th anniversary of the Refugee dubbed “one refugee without hope is too many”. Ghana has been hosting refugees post independence and has hosted refugees from sudan, Togo, Ligeria, Cote d’ivoire and it is in this light that the anniversary was celebrated in Ghana as well. In Ghana, the celebration of the Golden jubilee which was held at the British Council Hall, on the 20th of June 2011 commenced with a photo viewing session where various pictures on projects embarked on were shown. Sharon J. Cooper the UNHCR Representative awarded Certificates of Appreciation and CAL Bank was one of the recipients. CAL Bank is one of the indigenous Ghanaian Bank that has over the years been at the fore front of promoting education and helping out the Orphaned in society, by way of supporting many orphanage homes in Ghana. CAL Bank has dedicated itself to helping educate and establish the orphan child in society so as to help integrate them back into the society. One of such projects was collaborating with the UNHCR to build a library for the Refugee child last year, a gesture which the Bank saw as the right way to reach out to the refugee child of whom most are also orphaned. The Bank expressed their gratitude at the opportunity given the Bank to make an impact in the life of children refugees and pledged to be of help whenever necessary.
