The third quarter of every year is therefore a period that most CAL Bank staff look forward to, because it’s the period in which the annual staff Fun games are held. This year’s edition took place on the 9th of July 2011 at the VRA club house in Akuse. Members of staff from all the 17 branches of the Bank the total number of 400 plus clad in branded T-shirts bearing the Bank’s core values took part in various games and activities. Staff were conveyed to the venue in buses organized by the planning committee of CAL Bank who also saw to the coordination of all activities from arrival to departure. The day commenced with an aerobics session to warm staff up for the day ahead after which Breakfast was served. In various teams made up of the core values, staff competed in various competitive and non competitive games. Kick starting the day was the game of volley followed by an eleven aside comprising 6 females 5 males football match. The eye catcher for the football was the female goalkeepers, who thrilled the cheering crowd with their creative skills in manning the goal post. Staff members enjoyed the array of games such as egg and spoon race, sack race, basket ball, Tennis, 50m relay, scrabble, Ludu, Draught and all these were amidst a cheering crowd and sizzling ‘Jama’ and music by the DJ. The MC for the day ace sports presenter Kojo Frimpong added a touch of humour with his hilarious commentary in both English and Twi, officials of the sports council were on hand to officiate proceedings so as to give unbiased records of the games. Activities such as Tug of FUN, swimming, musical chairs and dancing competition were the highlights of the day. These saw staff exhibit their crafty skills in dancing to the amusement of their fellow colleagues.
Presenting the Trophies to the teams, Mr. Frank Adu Managing Director commended staff for their active participation and encouraged staff to make it a point to make time out of their busy schedule to relax and distress. He said the secret to attaining high productivity was sound mind and total wellbeing. Mr. Adu lauded staff on the first half of the year’s impressive performance, he said though the year has been challenging staff should endeavor to put in maximum efforts to attain overall 2011 target.
